What is holistic medicine? How many different
types of practice does it have? The list below is only part
of it. Some have been practiced since ancient time, and some
have been developed fairly recently.
For example, homeopathy is a therapy that was developed in
the eighteenth century by a medical doctor who despaired of
Western medicine. He quit his position as a medical doctor
and started researching homeopathic therapy. Alexander technique
was developed by an Australian actor who lost his voice due
to excessive use for plays. He intensively studied on every
parts of his body and figured out how to use them effectively.
Although the characteristics of those practices are different
from one another, there is a similarity among all the holistic
medicine. That is, "all the parts of our body are interrelated
to one another. Treating a problem partly will not cure the
problem."
Interestingly, they all share and understand one principle
even though these practices were developed many different
parts of the world. Once you start studying one of the practices,
it seems easy to understand the concepts of other holistic
practices because they all share one principle. Is this just
a coincident? Or, is it an obvious fact of our body system?
